In his first prime time speech from the White House Thursday night, Joe Biden announced magnanimously that Americans will be allowed to gather with their families and even their friends in small groups to have cookouts and barbecues on Independence Day if we all do our part and get vaccinated. Mr. Biden also said citizens will be issued “additional guidance” regarding what they can do at work, in church, and with their friends.
Biden began his speech by attacking the Trump administration with a series of boldfaced lies: “A year ago, we were hit with a virus that was met with silence and spread unchecked. Denials for days, weeks, then months. That led to more deaths, more infections, more stress, and more loneliness,” he said. In fact, President Trump immediately shut down travel first with China, and then with Europe, which Biden slammed as “xenophobic.” Trump also quickly assembled a Coronavirus task group that provided guidelines to stop the spread. In mid-March, the task force issued their “15 Days to Slow the Spread” guidelines, and Trump declared a National Emergency, freeing up more than $42 billion in resources for states and localities. He left it to the states to implement their guidelines and mandates.
Biden also gave voice to the corrupt Democrat/media conspiracy theory that the recent spate of attacks on Asians are Donald Trump’s fault because he criticized communist China for the spread of Covid-19.
Biden said the “vicious hate crimes against Asian Americans” are due to them being “scapegoated.”
In reality, the vast majority of these crimes have been committed by black career criminals, and black on Asian violence has been a “dirty little secret” in many cities for years.
Without mentioning President Trump’s hard work in getting several vaccines to market in record time, Biden went on to take full credit for reaching the goal of 100 million shots in his first 60 days in office. He added that he was mandating that every state make all adults eligible to be vaccinated by May 1.
Biden said that in the coming weeks, his administration would issue further guidance on what citizens “can and cannot do” even when they are fully vaccinated.
“Millions and millions of grandparents who went months without being able to hug their grandkids can now do so,” he said. “And the more people who are fully vaccinated, the CD [sic] will continue to provide additional guidance on what you can do in the workplace, places of worship, your friends, as well as travel.”
Leaning forward and glaring at the camera, he beckoned Americans to submit to what the government asks of them.
“I need YOU,” Biden said as forcefully as he could muster. “I need you to do your part.”
“That’s not hyperbole,” he added. “I need you to get vaccinated when it’s your turn and you can find an opportunity.”
Biden then solicited the help of his supporters to pressure everyone they know into getting the vaccine. “You can help your family and friends and neighbors get vaccinated as well,” he said.
“Because here’s the point. If we do all this. If we do our part, if we do this together, by July 4, there’s a good chance you, your families, and friends will be able to get together in your backyard or in your neighborhood and have a cookout or a barbecue and celebrate Independence Day,” Biden declared. He made sure to stipulate that Americans still shouldn’t meet in “large groups with lots of people together,” but promised America that “small groups will be able to get together.”
Biden remarked that American citizens being allowed to have a cookout in small groups on the 4th of July would be “very special” because we will not only be marking our independence as a nation, but “our independence from this virus.”
Biden cautioned citizens not to let their guard down.
“This virus is far from order—from over!” he said.
Biden added that the July 4 BBQ with loved ones was “the goal,” but “a lot can happen and conditions can change.” He stressed that it will take “national unity” to get back to normal.
Biden then held up his mask, and beckoned citizens to keep wearing them as recommended by the CDC, and said that “if we don’t stay vigilant and the conditions change, “then we may have to reinstate restrictions to get back on track.”
Fox News host Tucker Carlson reacted to Biden’s speech with great disdain.
“[Biden] said that if you take that shot, and wear your mask, and listen to Dr. Fauci, it is possible—not assured—but possible that you might be able to gather in small groups with the ones you love for the 4th of July. We might have to rescind that right, but it’s possible if you’re obedient, you’ll get it,” said Carlson mockingly.
“WHO ARE YOU TALKING TO?” Carlson demanded. “This is a free country, how DARE you tell us who we can spend our 4th of July with.”
Investigative journalist Alex Berenson joined Carlson to discuss Biden’s speech.
He said the word that came to his mind was “bizarro.”
“In this bizarro world we were all still desperately afraid the coronavirus—where cases haven’t fallen nearly 90 percent since January, and hospitalizations 70 percent. Where we know exactly who’s at risk for this and how most of us are at very, very low risk from this,” Berenson explained.
“The world that Joe Biden inhabits, and I guess many of his constituents inhabit, is not the world I inhabit,” he said.
